Game-Changing Partnership: Malaysia’s Tech Giants Join Forces to Flood the Industry with Elite Engineers!

UCSI University and ViTrox Corporation Bhd have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to deliver UCSI’s Mechatronics Engineering degree programme directly at ViTrox’s industrial campus in Batu Kawan, Penang. The partnership aims to build a robust talent pipeline for Malaysia’s semiconductor and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The MoA signing was witnessed by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who highlighted its alignment with the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) targeting 60,000 engineers by 2030. Students will undergo day-to-day learning at ViTrox College and gain hands-on exposure at the newly launched RM60 million ViTrox Innovation Lab — Southeast Asia’s first such facility featuring cyber-physical systems, collaborative robots, AIoT devices, and autonomous nodes.

This industry-academia collaboration employs a work-based learning model and a unique 3-mentor approach (academy, industry, and life skills), preparing graduates for high-value careers. The initiative supports Malaysia’s ambition to move up the semiconductor value chain into design, R&D, and advanced packaging while strengthening Penang’s position as Asia’s Silicon Valley.
